Operations & Communications Manager

Sunny Leerasanthanah (they/she) discovered Curve magazine at a bookstore in Bangkok, Thailand, as a young person craving connections and conversations with the global queer community. Fast forward to today, they are proud to be contributing to Curve’s legacy and mission through their work at The Curve Foundation as an Operations and Communications Manager.

Previously, Sunny worked at arts and culture agency LaPlaca Cohen, first on the media team as an account associate, then as a project manager on the strategy team. Sunny led media planning, project management, and R&D for various arts and culture non-profit organizations across the country, from art museums to botanical gardens. They received a master’s in arts administration from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a bachelor of fine arts from Ithaca College.

Sunny is also a photographer, filmmaker, and interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Recent notable projects include their first solo exhibition in New York City, “This is as far as I can take you” (2024), and their portrait photography of over 40 American artists and art world figures published in the book “We Are Here: Visionaries of Color Transforming the Art World” by Jasmin Hernandez (2021, Abrams Books). They continue to interweave their passion and advocacy for the arts and LGBTQ+ community.
